Tell us about you.
I grew up in NYC and have been involved in the theatre since I can remember. I was an actor for much of my life before I moved into directing. I did my undergrad at Hofstra and my grad at RADA. Since graduating in 2010 I have primarily focused on directing and running my theatre company Random Access Theatre, which has been producing work in New York since 2010.
Tell us about your current project?
“Miranda from Stormville” is a new play by Adam Bertocci. It’s a contemporary adaptation of Shakespeare’s “The Tempest.”
Where are you performing your show and why is it a good fit for your production?
We are so excited to be back at IRT Theatre for our second 3B residency. The wonderful thing about working in this space as part of this project is that we get to completely move in for a whole month. It’s an incredible opportunity to develop a piece in the place you will actually be performing it in.
What’s next for you?
2019 is Random Access Theatre’s “Season of the Storm.” Following “Miranda from Stormville” we will be putting up Thomas Duffett’s “The Mock Tempest,” and will then round out our season with the actual “Tempest” by Shakespeare. And of course we also have “The Drunk Texts,” a drinking show where we perform a reading of a classical text or a text made classical on the first Friday of every month at the Players Theatre.
What is the name of the last show you saw?
Anastasia on Broadway (featuring “Miranda from Stormville” cast member James A. Pierce III).
Any advice for your peers?
Make your own work. It’s hard, but it’s the most satisfying in the end.
