After receiving an undergraduate degree in Creative Writing from Syracuse University, DiPietro moved to New York City where she studied poetry and playwriting with, among others, Galway Kinnell and Arthur Miller, and acting at HB Studio with Carol Rosenfeld. She received her master’s in Theater Education from Emerson College where her play, Cold Water Flat, won the Playwrights’ Festival. Her play, Sugar, was a winner in the Kennedy Center College Playwrights’ Festival and was produced at Brandeis University.

Off-Broadway staged readings of Black Butterflies, DiPietro’s play based on the life of Rose Williams, Tennessee Williams’s sister and muse, took place at the Abingdon Theatre and the Peter Jay Sharp Theater. The short, one-act version of her newest play, Bone on Bone, was produced at Manhattan Repertory Theatre in November, 2016.

In April, 2017 an off-Broadway reading of the full-length version of Bone on Bone, directed by Emmy Award winning director, Mary Lou Belli, took place at the The Road Theatre in Los Angeles. The first full production of Bone on Bone will be produced at the Broadway Bound Theater Festival in August 2017.

Where are you performing your show and why is it a good fit for your production?

At Broadway Bound Theatre Festival which is being lead by Lenore Skomal. The reason I chose BBTF for the world premiere of Adam & Brian is because Lenore and all of the panelists are putting the playwrights in charge and letting us produce the vision we created on the page, with ample amounts of guidance and resources.

What’s next for you?

I will continue to work on my web series, Living The Dream, while promoting my play work (including Adam & Brian) for future productions.

Any advice for your peers?

Playwrights have a responsibility to ask the questions that no one else wants to ask. To push the boundaries that help guide humanity to a better and more profound existence. Keep asking those questions and pushing those boundaries!

Where are you performing your show and why is it a good fit for your production?

“Convicted” is being performed with the Broadway Bound Theatre Festival. It’s a perfect fit because it’s a world-premiere, and BBTF is committed to cultivating and celebrating new works. The platform of a festival is a great way to try your hand at a show that takes a few risks, challenges audiences and plays a bit with structure, all of which “Convicted” does to – hopefully – great success.

SYNOPSIS:
After discovering one of her subordinates has been accused of a brutal murder, Amy, the local director of an LGBT advocacy organization, must help the detectives piece together what happened. Once the circumstances start to unravel the one question left to answer is how far would you go for what you believe?

It’s a gripping one-act play that flies back and forth through time, with the feel of a fleshed-out Law & Order episode. Anyone who likes crime drama, whodunits & whys, and theatre made to challenge, will enjoy “Convicted”.

There are many irons in the fire, which one gets struck depends heavily on who gives me what hammer.

Having been compared to Jonathan Larson, Jason Robert Brown, and Jeanine Tesori, Riley Thomas has developed his unique sound of contemporary musical theatre influenced by pop, rock and jazz. A champion of alternative characters, ethnic integration and using theatre for evolution, Riley Thomas continues to challenge the audience perspective by exploring stories that are often overlooked in favor of glitz, glamour and fluff.

Riley Thomas is a New York based playwright/composer. He is a member of ASCAP, a 2016 Weston Playhouse Invited Artist, recipient of the Anna Sosenko Assist Trust Grant and Johnny Mercer Songwriter’s Certificate. His musicals Stuck and Wearing Black have collectively won five awards at the New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF). Stuck has since gone on to be produced as a full length Hollywood feature film starring Giancarlo Esposito, Amy Madigan and Ashanti. His work has been performed all over the country and in NYC, notably at famous venues such as Lincoln Center, Playwrights Horizons, Feinstein’s/54 Below, the Metropolitan Room, the Laurie Beechman and the Duplex.

We’re part of the wonderful new Broadway Bound Festival and we’re fortunate to play at the 14th Street Y, which is a terrific space.

What’s next for you?

Well before Saving Stan, my musical Mad Mel Saves the World premieres at the Midtown International Theater Festival (July 18-23). After Saving Stan, my new sci-fi novel A Mound Over Hell will be published by BHC Press in March 2018. In between I’ll try to sleep.

Any advice for your peers?

Keep writing, no matter how much it hurts because in the end, it won’t.

Gary Morgenstein wrote the critically acclaimed off-Broadway rock musical The Anthem, and his dramatic works range from A Tomato Can’t Grow in the Bronx and Right on Target to Ponzi Man and Saving Stan, premiering August 3 at the Broadway Bound Festival. His new musical Mad Mel Saves the World will premiere July 18 at the Midtown International Theater Festival. Morgenstein’s novels include A Mound Over Hell, a baseball-science fiction story set in 2098 following America’s defeat in World War Three. The first book in The Dark Depths trilogy, A Mound Over Hell is scheduled to be published by BHC Press in March 2018. Juan Ramirez, Jr. is an internationally produced writer, actor and director. I’m doing a show with Equity Library Theatre, and I’m writing new works.

What is your current project? In the Room, Waiting.

Where are you performing your show and why is it a good fit for your production?

In the Room, Waiting is being performed as part of the Broadway Bound Theatre Festival in NYC. I am so thrilled to be a part of a festival that puts playwrights and their work front and center and it couldn’t be a better fit for myself as a playwright and for the show as a whole. I am so excited to produce this story that is so near and dear to me as a person with such an incredible group of Actors of Color. I know audiences will love this originally told, heartfelt and funny script that questions fate, choice, and when the right time to bring a life into this world.

What’s next for you?

I am currently Acting in Lobby Hero @UNO, which was co-produced by myself and the University of New Orleans. I will be return to my home base in Brooklyn in July to begin rehearsals for In the Room, Waiting.

NEATH WILLIAMS is a Hospital Corpsman 2nd Class Petty Officer in the United States Navy Reserves (Sept ’09-Current) He served on active duty from ’99-’09. Neath did three combat tours in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. (1) ’03 Shock Trauma Platoon 10, (2 & 3) Navy Riverine Squadron One (NECC unit) ’07, then again late ’08-’09. He also worked as leading field corpsman, and brig corpsman at Marine Corps Officer Candidate School, Quantico,VA. Neath was born in southern Illinois, grew up in Houston, TX till age 11, then moved to Bowling Green, KY where he then joined the Navy after high school. Upon his honorable discharge after 10 years of service Neath enrolled at Old Dominion University to pursue his passion for the arts. His experiences on stage at ODU led to his move to New York City the summer of 2010 where he received a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies with focuses in theater arts, international studies, and writing for the stage from Marymount Manhattan College.

Originally from Miami, Florida, Lina Sarrello is an up and coming multi-lingual Actress, Director, Writer, and Producer.

Lina started writing with two New York based companies, Latinoflavored Productions and the People’s Theater Project. She has written numerous stage and screen plays that have been produced in and around New York. Lina’s first stage play, Life Could Be un Sueño, won a playwright’s award in the 2008 Asi Somos Festival, and was an official selection at the Downtown Urban Theater Festival that year. Her production company, H.A.D.A. Productions created the Latino animated short based on the Frog Prince, which won for Best Animated Short at the Tiny Lights Film Festival in 2012.

Her existential play, Waiting for the D was an official selection at the 2010 DUTF. And her live-action short screenplay, LOBO: An Orisha Tale premiered at the 2014 Havana Film Festival in NYC, was an official selection at the 2014 International Puerto Rican Heritage Film Festival, and won an award at the 2015 Miami International Sci Fi Film Festival for Best Supernatural Suspense Film.

Presently, Lina’s play, Out There, about the Cuban Revolution, is an official selection at the Broadway Bound Theater Festival and will be performed in both English and Spanish.
